Betty Brown is a reknown sketch artist from Oriental, NC where she lives with her husband, Bob.

About the Artist

Betty and Bob moved to Oriental 4 years ago from Smith Mt. Lake outside Roanoke, Va. Five years ago, Betty’s sketching of a few neighbor’s homes as gifts evolved into her sketching business.

Betty received her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from Roanoke College and later earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Radford University. She enjoyed teaching children with learning disabilities.

Her love of the water and the ambience of Oriental are expressed in her sketches. Betty sketches local scenes, homes, businesses, churches, bed and breakfast inns, boats and wineries. She also works with local builders and realtors offering customized renderings as closing thank you gifts. Recently she has worked with several developers sketching projects prior to their being built.

Betty will come to your location and photograph the project or can work from an existing photo. She takes great pride in the detail of her work and always meets with her clients to go over any changes they may want prior to printing. The original print can be made into artist signed and numbered prints, note cards, Christmas cards and business logos.

November 2007: Press Release from Habitat for Humanity of Pamlico County

Unique new map of Old Town Oriental Historic sites
Our wonderful local artist, Betty Brown, generously donated her great artwork to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Pamlico County. All proceeds from the sale of this 12" X 18" archival-quality rendering will support decent, affordable housing in Pamlico County. The price is $40.00 and it is ready to frame. Available at Corakertown & Marsha's Cottage in Oriental and at Habitat's ReStore in Alliance. Thanks to Betty, Lynn & Marsha, ALL proceeds go to Habitat!!

Upcoming Events

Spirt of Christmas: On December 9th, Betty will be signing Oriental and New Bern calendars as well as new "Old Town Oriental" historic sites and maps. Betty's new 2007 signature Christmas cards, in color, of the Oriental Harbor will be available, as well. Visit Betty at Croakertown in Oriental between 1 pm and 3 pm!

The collection is available in selected stores and boutiques in both Oriental and New Bern, NC. This line captures the spirit of the area in beautiful porcelain serving and decorative pieces.
